Mondelez Székesfehérvár chocolate plant The European organization of Mondelēz International invested $50 million (HUF 11 billion) over the past three years in the development of the Székesfehérvár chocolate plant of one of its group members, Győri Keksz. Three new production lines have been installed producing Milka and Cadbury choco-bakery sandwiches exclusively in this plant, mostly for export but more recently for the Hungarian market as well. Over the past years the European organization of the world’s leading snacking company invested more than HUF 11 billion in the development of the plant. Thanks to the investment, real power brands moved into the facility. Exclusively in the whole world, the choco-bakery sandwich products of Milka and Cadbury with TUC, LU and Ritz biscuits are now all produced in this plant – these products became huge successes of the snack giant, right after their launch. In order to meet increasing market demand, the company has not only installed three new lines but also extended the production area by a new chocolate silo and a packaging and raw materials warehouse. The new investment realized in three phases increased production capacity by 70% and created more than 350 new jobs in the region.„Mondelēz International is investing big to ensure that its power brands are manufactured on state-of-the-art equipment. Our company invested more than $1 billion worldwide in our supply chain capacities since 2012 and we have plans to do even more. Our Székesfehérvár investment put this plant on the confectionery map of Europe. We are committed to realizing its full potential to create delicious moments of joy for our consumers.” – said Philip A. Hodges, Senior Vice President, Integrated Supply Chain, Mondelez Europe.“It is my joy and privilege to participate in the inauguration of the extended Székesfehérvár plant. I feel like this because, on the one hand, another landmark investment has come to our city and also because I am a great fan and consumer of Milka products myself. Székesfehérvár is proud of being one of the most important economic centres of Hungary and this pivotal role is guaranteed by the combined economic performance of numerous smaller and larger domestic and international companies. This layered industrial structure guarantees continuity for the employees and the local government alike. We would like to thank Mondelēz International for having chosen us and, like in the past, the snacking company can count on our future partnership, too. This investment will further elevate the international renown of the city, because the choco-bakery products produced here will reach numerous European countries” – said András Cser-Palkovics, Mayor of Székesfehérvár. The Mayor made a special point of mentioning that if someone watched the company’s TV ads carefully, they could recognize details of the historic city centre. And this is a further important element of cooperation beside and beyond the jobs created and saved.
